The Roger Smith Hotel Lobby Series explores yet another romantic theme through the artwork of Arkom’s City Life.  He vividly captures the harmonious relationship of city life and lights.  His use of color and perspective is fascinating and arouses the romantic senses throughout each piece.  This extensive experience can be seen right through his canvas.

The Artist:

Arkom Doungchawna: a Thai contemporary artist with a collection of abstract and impressionist oils, acrylics, pastels and mixed techniques. Born on 12 February 1957 in Bangkok, Thailand, to a family of twelve. Driving his family crazy by turning every single ordinary object into a piece of art, the path of his future was obvious. Graduated as a B.F.A. (Painting), Silpakorn University in 1982. Currently living in New York City, after having spent a couple of years in Sierra Leone, West Africa with frequent travel to other places in Africa, Asia, Europe and the USA. Travel and living abroad provided opportunities of working in an unfamiliar cultural, social, and natural environment, enriching experience and interfacing with a foreign audience while participating in artistic dialogue and cultural immersion.
