Neke Carson at Lily’s at The Roger Smith Hotel
Wednesdays, 5-7pm happy hour

Neke Carson spent the seventies as point man and chief satirist for the emerging art form eventually called Performance Art. His events included selling out shows by placing red dots near all the paintings in the galleries. In 1979 he created the first new wave modeling agency “LaRocka” that celebrated an alternative idea of beauty. He continued to create art with shows at The Holly Solomon Gallery and other alternative spaces. For the last 14 years he has curated evenings at the famed Gershwin Hotel. In the middle of all this Mr. Carson sat down one day at the piano and taught himself to play. Jazz is his specialty and he has given concerts at the Rubin Museum of Art and The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. He also had a exclusive 6 month engagement at the world famous Petrossian Restaurant in Manhattan. He has a regular Sunday brunch at the Greenwhich Village Bistro. With one hand in music and other in art he recently published a book entitled “Art Therapy for Conceptual Artists” in Switzerland with Rollo Press. The book was awarded one of the most beautiful Swiss books by the Swiss minister of Culture. His piano styling goes back to the jazz piano of Art Tatum and Errol Garner. His Bebop Stride piano takes on such classics “Body and Soul”, “Someone to watch over me”, “Star dust” and ‘Home of the range” He has performed countless times the Gershwin Hotel. He is now bringing his magic fingers to the Roger Smith Hotel  Wednesdays at our 5 to 7 pm Happy Hour. For more samples of his work and music go to
