The Stores Your Kids Will Want to Go to in NYC Now

Even kids need a little retail therapy.

As much as we wish our kids would fall in love with the city’s abundance of theaters, museums and cultural experiences, we know what they’re really looking for in a vacation: toys, souvenirs, interactive play time. Check out these awesome NYC kids’ stores that will occupy both adult and baby. They may not be as entertaining as a production of Dear Evan Hansen, but they’ll likely tucker your kid out so you can enjoy drinks and show later in the evening.

In Rockefeller Center, Nintendo’s new 10,000 square-foot flagship is a mecca for gamers of all ages. The two-level store features interactive game demos (including a floor-to-ceiling screen), plus all the latest games and plenty of associated merchandise.  Nintendo NYC: 10 Rockefeller Plaza; 646-459-0800

With a name like “Nike NYC, House of Innovation 000,” the new 5th Avenue mega-store would be remiss in delivering anything other than an awe-inspiring experience. Truly, it does not disappoint. The store is a 68,000 square foot, digitally informed paradise for sneakerheads and athleisure consumers alike. Featuring a Sneaker Bar, athletes as salespeople, pick-up lockers, and a full customization wing, Nike’s new home is your kid’s new favorite place to spend a few hours (and a few bucks) in Midtown. Nike NYC, House of Innovation 000: 650 Fifth Avenue; 212-376-9480

FAO Schwarz

After famously shutting the doors of its flagship Fifth Avenue store in 2015, FAO Schwarz recently opened a 20,000-square-foot shop at 30 Rock. Whether you have children or not, you’ll likely want to dance around the shop’s iconic floor keyboard, hit up the Build-A-Bear workshop, or check out the candy store. Being a grown up isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Enjoy feeling like a kid again. FAO Schwarz: 30 Rockefeller Plaza; 800-326-8638

LEGO Flagship Store

3D Lego Murals of iconic city scenes, an 8-foot Statue of Liberty, a mind boggling selection of kits, and special edition colors await your little one at Lego’s Flagship shop on Fifth Avenue. Tired of trailing your kid from wonder to wonder? Take a seat in the LEGO lounge area—adults can enjoy plush, oversized couches, charging stations and books. The LEGO Store: 200 Fifth Ave; 212-255-3217

Disney Store

Clothes, toys, collectibles, DVDs, and more await you and your favorite prince or princess at the most magical place in NYC. With the recent releases of Captain Marvel and Dumbo, your kid will go wild for the latest and greatest merchandise that Disney has to offer. Disney Store: 1540 Broadway; 212-626-2910

Piccolini NYC

Famous for their original hotdog pretzel NY tees and onesies, this shop is more for the Instagram-addicted mama than the toy-obsessed toddler. Enjoy their adorable collection of baby clothing, books, and organic cotton rattles and plush toys. Piccolini NYC: 167 Mott St; 212-775-1118
